Catoctin Skate Park Conceptual Designs Available for Public
Review and Comment
Leesburg, VA (May 16, 2016) – Spohn Ranch, the skatepark design firm contracted by the Town
of Leesburg for the new Catoctin Skate Park, has released conceptual designs for the park. The
drawings can be viewed on the Town website at www.leesburgva.gov/skatepark.
The new park is approximately 12,000 square feet, which is the same size as the existing park ,
and will be located on the empty lot to the west of the existing park. The new design
incorporates ramps, stairs and handrails with modern, cement -based structures like a bowl and
a vertical wall. The design takes into consideration that park users have different levels of
ability and include in-line skaters and bicyclists in addition to skateboarders.
The Leesburg Parks & Recreation Department values resident and skate park user input on the
design. Comments may be sent via email to skateparkinfo@leesburgva.gov or posted on
Facebook at www.facebook.com/groups/leesburgskatepark. Comments will be accepted
through Wednesday, May 25, 2016.
