HomeMy Public PortalAbout2020-01-07 minutesMINUTES Board of Electrical Examiners and Review Jefferson City, Missouri January 7, 2020 MEMBERS PRESENT: Fred Gladbach Jim Gooch Dave Hagan Sam Thomas Joel Vanderslice COUNCIL LIAISON ABSENT: Ron Fitzwater STAFF PRESENT: Bill Luebbert, Electrical Inspector Larry Burkhardt, Building Official The Electrical Board of Examiners and Review met January 7, 2020, in the Small Conference Room of the John G. Christy Municipal Building. The meeting was called to order by Bill Luebbert at 4:02 p.m. A quorum was present. Bill Luebbert introduced new Member, Dave Hagan, with Ameren Missouri. Members welcomed Dave to the Board. APPROVAL OF MINUTES FROM THE NOVEMBER 6, 2019 MEETING A motion was made by Joel Vanderslice and seconded by Fred Gladbach to approve the minutes of the November 6, 2019 meeting. Motion passed by show of hands. REVIEW EXAM TESTING APPLICATIONS • A motion was made by Jim Gooch and seconded by Fred Gladbach to approve Rich Verwys to take the Master Electrician Exam. Motion passed by a show of hands. • A motion was made by Joel Vanderslice and seconded by Sam Thomas to approve Ricky Clark to take the Master Electrician Exam. Motion passed by a show of hands. • A motion was made by Jim Gooch and seconded by Fred Gladbach to approve Caleb Massman to take the Journeyman Electrician Exam. Motion passed by a show of hands. REVIEW LICENSE APPLICATIONS • A motion was made by Joel Vanderslice and seconded by Fred Gladbach to approve Chris Bax to receive his Journeyman Electrician License. Motion passed by show of hands. • A motion was made by Jim Gooch and seconded by Sam Thomas to approve Christopher Hunter to receive his Master Electrician License. Motion passed by show of hands. Minutes of the Board of Electrical Examiners and Review January 7, 2020 OLD BUSINESS PAGE 2 Members discussed drafting language to propose a City code change due to the recent implementation of the Missouri State Electrical Contractor License. Members agree the language needs to clarify that the state license, with the City Electrical Business License only authorizes the licensee to practice general electric work in the City. It does not authorize them to supervise Electrical Apprentices; licensed or unlicensed. NEW BUSINESS • Members discussed the process required to adopt the 2017 Electrical Code. • Members discussed the idea of requiring proof of continued work hours to renew individual electrical licenses in the future. • Members discussed how code committees will be formed to review the 2018 Building Codes. • Members discussed information on installing a 5G network on electrical power poles. SCHEDULE NEXT MEETING The Electrical Review Board's next meeting will be Tuesday, March 3, 2020. Board Members shall meet at 4:00 p.m. in the small conference room (aka Thomas Jefferson Conference Room).
