suggested that if we failed to get, action from the County Government that we seek
action from the Governor and Legislature.
The mayor appointed Councilmar Faulkner as United Natinns Day Chairman for
Bat Harbour Village,
The Village manager explained that our present Pensiun Plan for employees is
inadequate and related some of the terms of the contracts. He said he had been
talking to an Actuary from Cleveland regarding a plan to be funded by the Village
and the Actuary had agreed to send him a letter stating the cost of such a survey.
The council asked Mr. Webb to call them when the letter arrived for approval of
the study based on the proposed cost.
At Mr. Webb's suggestion the fees for election clerks at the coming election
were raised from $15.00 to $20.00 on motion of Mr. Faulkner, seconded by Mr.
Taplin and unanimously voted.
Mr. Webb said he had decided not to buy a street sweeper -loader tractor
combination as discussed previously, but was now interested in a rebuilt street
sweener for $2,0M .00, whi.rh is cnnsiderebly less money than the other type of
equinm=nt.
Mr. Faulkner inquired whether a boat had been purchased and Mr. Webb said he
had purchased a Woodson for $2,645.00 and sold the old boat for $975.00.
Mr. Webb explained that due to the confusion of the County Tax bills We
have the largest number of unpaid items at this time of year. He asked the
council's permission to call or write the taxpayers and remind them that interest
and penalties would occur on April 1st. The council approved the manager's
suggest.i-n.
0n motion of Mr. Printup. seconded by Mr. Taplin, the meeting was adjourned
at 10:45 A. M.

Mayor
The Council of Bal Harbour Village met Monday, April 17., 1967 at 10:00 A.M.
in the Village Hall far the purpose of inducting the new members into office.
Present were: Messrs. Faulkner, Hart, Printup, Taplin and White
Also present were Mary T. Wetterer, Village Clerk and Councilman -elect John
F. Beatty

The Village Clerk reported that at the election held April 4, 1967 votes
were cast by 161 of 286 registered voters, being 56% of the total. The results
of the election as certified by herself and election clerks Barbara H. Beckham
and Margaret M. Zill were as follows: District #1: Sol M. Taplin, 100;
District #2: Herbert W. White, 101; District #4: Fred Faulkner, 70, Hale
Printup, 71; District #5: John Beatty, 93, Wilbur Arnold, 58. Thereby
Mr. Taplin and Mr. White received four year terms and Mr. Printup and Mr.
Beatty two year terms.
Mr. Printup moved that the old council be adjourned and that the new
members be sworn into office. The motion was seconded by Mr. Taplin and voted.
The oath of office was then administered to Messrs. Beatty, Printup, Taplin
and White by the Village Clerk.
It ws then moved by Mr. Printup, seconded by Mr. White and voted that Mr.
Taplin be appointed temporary chairman of the meeting.
Mr. Taplin then called for nominations for the uffice of Mayor. It was
moved by Mr. Hart, seconded by Mr. Beatty, that Mr. White be appointed Mayor..
There being no further nominations it was moved by Mr. Beatty, seconded by Mr.
Hart and voted that nominations be closed. Upon vote Mr. White was declared
Mayor.
After being sworn in as dlayor, Mr. White assumed the Chair and called for
nominations for Assistant Mayor. It was moved by Mr. Taplin, seconded by Mr.
Hart, that Mr. Printup be appointed Assistant Mayor. There were no other
nominations and Mr. Beatty moved that the nominations be closed. Upon second
by Mr. Hart, and vote, Mr. Printup was appointed Assistant Mayor. Mr. Printup
was then sworn by the Village Clerk.
There being no further business pn motion of Mr. Hart, seconded by Mr.
Taplin, the meeting was adjourned at 10:20 A. M.

The Council of Ba1 Harbour Village met Saturday, April 22, 1967 at 9:30
A. M. in the Village Hall.
Present were: Messrs. Beatty, Hart, Printup, Taplin and White
Also present were W. H. Webb, Village Manager; Mary T. Wetterer, Village
Clerk; and Thomas H. Anderson, Village Attorney.
