Proclaiming April 11, 1993 through April 17, 1993
"BUILDING SAFETY WEEK"
in the Town of Gulf Stream, Florida
WHEREAS, the regulation of building construction can be
traced for over 4,000 years; and
WHEREAS, such men as George Washington and Thomas Jefferson
encouraged the development of building regulations; and
WHEREAS, building codes provide minimum standards for health,
fire protection, structural integrity, and energy conservation; and
WHEREAS, codes affect an understanding and cooperative
relationship among owners, builders and government; and
WHEREAS, building code enforcement is a self- supporting
activity; and
WHEREAS, building codes provide for public protection and
worker safety; and
WHEREAS, building safety is no accident.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, William F. Koch, Jr., Mayor of the Town of
Gulf Stream, Floirda, do hereby proclaim April 11, 1993 through
April 17, 1993 as
"BUILDING SAFETY WEEK"
in the Town of Gulf Stream, Florida.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have herewith set my hand and caused
the Seal of the Town of Gulf Stream, Florida to be affixed this

April 11- 17,1993 as "Building Safety Week" in your
local community. The Building Officials Association
of Palm Beach County urges each municipality in'
Palm Beach County .to have a similar proclamation
passed by their local government.
I hope the distribution of the Building Safety Coloring
Contest is going well'. With your help, the Building
Safety Committee-will award prizes to the contest
winners during this National Building Safety Week.
We encourage you to share this announcement along
with your government's enacted proclamation as a'
part of a safety display at your Building Department.
