We wanted to invite you to take part in a very meaningful way in an exciting
celebration that takes place each year in thousands of schools throughout our
nation.
The National PTA has designated the first week of May, this year May 6 -12, as
Teacher Appreciation Week. PTAs throughout the country plan activities that
will bring attention to the importance of the teaching profession in shaping the
minds of the future leaders of America.
If, as the the top elected official in your city, you would issue a proclamation
supporting this idea, it would lend valuable support in making our teachers feel
that the community cares and appreciates the work that they do.
Enclosed is a sample proclamation for your use or you may certainly feel free to
draft one in your own language.
If you would let our representatives in your area know of your willingness to do
this for teachers, they could arrange a short ceremony and media coverage.
Thank you so much for your contribution to our wonderful American way of life by
your willingness to serve as an elected official.
Please join us in this wonderful tribute.
incerely
