WHEREAS, criminal violence preys on millions of Americans each year; and WHEREAS, victims of crime and their families and friends often suffer grave financial, physical and psychological losses; and WHEREAS, all victims of crime share a common bond of suffering and loss; and WHEREAS, all citizens of the United States deserve to be treated with dignity, compassion and justice in times of distress; and WHEREAS, equal protection of the law and an effective criminal justice system should be afforded to all victims, witnesses and their loved ones or survivors; and WHEREAS, thousands of our fellow citizens, in their work and their volunteer activities, are devoting themselves to bringing a full measure of dignity, compassion and justice to those of our friends, relatives and neighbors who fall victim to crime; NOW, THEREFORE,///on behalf of the Village Council and the citizens of Tequesta, the week of April i'7 through April ?.B,J•, 19WC'gis proclaimed as Victims' Rights Week.
