Leesburg Employees Receive Service Awards
Staff members recognized for 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 and 30 years of service.
Leesburg, VA (June 27, 2016) – Last week, the Town of Leesburg held its annual employee
service awards, honoring 92 full and part-time staff members for their years of service to the
Town.
In his remarks before the awards presentations, Mayor David Butler thanked the employees for
their hard work and dedication, noting that while Council sets the policy for the Town, it is the
staff who actually provide the services that the Town’s residents, businesses and visitors
expect.
Thirty-six employees received 5-year awards, twenty-five
received 10-year awards, sixteen received 15-year awards,
eleven received 20-year awards, three received 25-year
awards, and one employee was recognized for 30 years of
service to the Town. Receiving 25 year awards were Officer
Michael Buracker and Sergeant Steven Pebler of the
Leesburg Police Department and Sharon Mannion with the
Parks & Recreation Department’s Aquatics Division. Master
Police Officer Mark McCartney received recognition for 30
years of service. Officer McCartney will be retiring from the
Town on August 1, 2016.
“This event is one of my favorites of the whole year,” said
Kaj Dentler, Leesburg’s Town Manager. “The commitment to public service that the Town’s
employees show every day speaks to the quality of this organization and the quality of this
community.”
