Resolution Establishing an Alternative Routes
Through Riverdale Ad Hoc Committee
WHEREAS, the City of Riverdale, Iowa, the Cornbelt Running Club, and the Quad Cities Bicycle Club wish
to partner together to bring about positive change to th,e Riverdale Parks and Trails system by
establishing an Alternative Routes Through Riverdale Ad Hoc Committee consisting of up to 2 members
of each Club, 2 members of City Council, and 2 staff members of the City; and,
WHEREAS, the Alternative Routes Through Riverdale Ad Hoc Committee will meet as needed,
commencing on February 28, 2024, and continuing until it's goal of making a recommendation to City
Council has been achieved; and,
WHEREAS, the goals of the Alternative Routes Through Riverdale Ad Hoc Committee include proposing
ideal routes to ride, run, and walk between the Duck Creek Bike Path trailhead and Mississippi River Trail
Bellingham Bike Stop, both located in Riverdale, Iowa; and,
WHEREAS, the Alternative Routes Through Riverdale Ad Hoc Committee will deliver to City Council at
the commencement of their discussions, a map or sketch, cost estimates, and lists of pros and cons for
each proposed alternative route; and,
WHEREAS, the Alternative Routes Through Riverdale Ad Hoc Committee will work to recommend
alternative routes that do not require change to the current gate accessibility at the terminus of South
Kensington Street, that minimize traffic conflicts (with particular focus on US67), that are compliant with
all rules and regulations for trails and roadways in Iowa (SUDAS, ADA, etc.), and that provide alternative
routes that are safe for all non -motorized means of transportation in the community; and,
WHEREAS, recommended appointment to the Alternative Routes Through Riverdale Ad Hoc Committee
includes:
1) Paul DCamp, Council member - Chair
2) Vince Jurgena, Council member
3) Kelly Krell, City staff
4) Anthony Heddlesten, City staff
5) Phil Schubbe, Quad Cities Bicycle Club
6) John Harrington, Quad Cities Bicycle Club
7) Bonnie Busch, Cornbelt Running Club
WHEREAS, no funding source is required for this action.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Riverdale, Iowa, that:
Section 1. The Alternative Routes Through Riverdale Ad Hoc Committee is hereby established as
outlined above including the appointed personnel, goals, and objectives.
Passed, approved, and adopted this 27th day of February 2024.
