HomeMy Public PortalAbout10/19/09 Special CCM303 MEDINA CITY COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES OF OCTOBER 19, 2009 The City Council of Medina, Minnesota met in special session on October 19, 2009 at 9:00 a.m. at 4365 Willow Dr., Medina, MN. I. Call to Order Members present: Members absent: Also present: Weir, Crosby, Smith Siitari, Johnson City Administrator Chad M. Adams and City Planner Dusty Finke II. Facility Tour of Rockier Woodworking and Hardware — 4365 Willow Drive The Council and Staff met in the conference room of Rockler Woodworking and Hardware with Ann Jackson of Rockler, Marc Anderson of Walter G. Anderson, and Dan Ribnick of TwinCo Romax, Inc. to discuss Rockler's business operations. Jackson provided a summary of the company's history, product line, number of employees, and sustainable initiatives. General discussion was held on the City's regulations for building modulation/wall space, loading docks, non -conforming issues with the City's proposed ordinance, and the future guiding/zoning of the Highway 55 Corridor. The Council, Staff and business representatives followed the discussion with a tour of Rockler's warehousing/distribution facility. III. Facility Tour of Walter G. Anderson, Inc. — 4535 Willow Drive The Council and Staff met in the conference room of Walter G. Anderson, Inc. with Marc Anderson of Walter G. Anderson, and Dan Ribnick of TwinCo Romax, Inc. to discuss Walter G. Anderson's business operations. Anderson provided a summary of the company's history, product line, number of employees, and growth needs and challenges. The Council, Staff and business representatives followed the company's background discussion with a tour of Walter G. Anderson's printing, warehousing, packaging, recycling, and shipping areas within the facility. IV. Facility Tour of TwinCo Romax, Inc. — 4635 Willow Drive The Council and Staff met in the conference room of TwinCo Romax with Marc Anderson of Walter G. Anderson, and Dan Ribnick of TwinCo Romax, Inc. to discuss TwinCo Romax's business operations. The Council, Staff and business representatives followed the company's background discussion with a tour of TwinCo's warehousing and distribution facility.
