ADJOURNMENT Regular Meeting -April 17, 2008 Motion Second Vote Time: -2- CITY OF LYNWOOD REGULAR MEETING OF THE PERSONNEL BOARD FEBRUARY 21, 2008 The regular meeting of the of the Personnel Board of the City of Lynwood was held on Thursday, February 21, 2008 at 5:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers of City Hall, 11330 Bullis Road, Lynwood, California. The agenda was duly posted as prescribed by the Brown Act. CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order at 5:06 p.m. by Vice-Chairperson Villanueva- Guerrero. Roll call was taken by Yolanda Delgadillo, Personnel Analyst. Commissioner Attendance: Present-Battle, Bradley, Guerrero-Villanueva Absent -None Staff Attendance: Present -Diane Strickfaden, Sr HR Analyst & Yolanda Delgadillo, HR Analyst Absent -None PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE Led by Commissioner Battle. APPROVAL OF MINUTES The motion was made by Commissioner Bradley and seconded by Commissioner Battle to approve the minutes of January 17, 2008 with a noted correction. All in favor. Motion carried. PUBLIC ORALS -None STUDIES AND REPORTS The motion was made by Commissioner Bradley and seconded by Commissioner Battle to approve the eligibility lists for the position of Building Maintenance Worker. The Board requested that future eligibility list be in large format and include the ethnicity breakdown. All in favor. Motion carried. COMMISSIONER & STAFF ORALS Mrs. Strickfaden presented the Board with a copy of the City's Equal Employment Opportunity (EEOC) Report and Census 2000 data requested by the Board at the January meeting. Commissioner Battled asked if the City was eligible for tax -3- breaks due to the number of ethnicity groups. Mrs. Strickfaden responded that there are Federal grants for government agencies but will check with the Grants Manager, Laura Alderete and will inform the Board at the next meeting. Vice- Chairperson Guerrero-Villanueva inquired about the Affirmative Action Plan and the Equal Employment Grants. Mrs. Strickfaden also informed the Board that the City is in the process of doing a regional survey on the best practices on people's background especially those that work around kids and will then be establishing a criteria for the hiring process. The City is also in the process of purchasing a live scan computer where the fingerprints will be done internal and thru the Department of Justice. This will also bring in revenue to the City. The Board thinks is a great idea and agrees with the implementation of a new policy. Mrs. Strickfaden reminded the Board about the next scheduled "Road on the Show" to the City of Santa Monica on Thursday, March 27, 2008. ADJOURNMENT Commissioner Battle made the motion to adjourn and Commissioner Bradley seconded. All in favor. Motion carried.
