Mr. Lopez provided an overview of the qualifications desired in the Water Utility
Worker classification and insight into the applicant pool. Mr. Lopez discussed the
external nature and scope of the recruitment.

Chairperson Robinson then inquired about the status of any hires from this process,
and Mr. Lopez responded with zero/no current vacancies had yet been filled. Staff
is/was awaiting approval of the eligibility list.
Commissioner Battle inquired about the mathematical formula of the weighted
score and discussed possible discrepancies in the overall score. Commissioner
Bradley then advised she believe there were discrepancies in the mathematics.
She also said that she did not think the numbers changed how the candidates
stacked up (1 through 5, for example), but that the numbers were slightly off.
The Personnel Board then unanimously approved the list. Mr. Lopez offered to
move to a straight 70/30 non-weighted score in the future. This would avoid the
need to weigh portions of exams, as each portion was only worth a strict point
