GUEST None 1. Introductions: Chairman Rycyk called the meeting to order at 10:30 a.m., and a quorum was present. Round the table introductions, and welcome to Mr. Jason Thurnau, newly appointed member. 2. Adoption of the agenda: Agenda approved as written, September 3, 2013 3. Approval of the minutes: As no additions, deletions, minutes stand as written. 4. Public Comment Opportunity: None 5. Invited Guest: None 6. Scheduled Reports: a) Airport Manager’s Report Traffic Counts available to commission today for review. Craft stated, numbers not compared from previous, but felt increased. September 3, 2013 Lightening Project is on City Council agenda for final vote. Meyer Electric is low bidder, if approved by council, will move quickly to begin project. Goal completion date December 2013. The Four-State Conference is scheduled in September (Sunday 15th thru Tuesday 17th). Craft will attend. Update, light gun (cable) in control tower has been order, and should arrive soon. Goal to have and working by the end of week. Control Tower closure update was given by Craft. Funding has been placed in the FAA for towers; however, contract deadline and fiscal year are not compatible. Unless Congress passes a continuing resolution, possible towers could close October 1st, 2013. Fly-in / Open House scheduled for Saturday, September 28th. The B25 will be at the airport and sponsored by Corwin Group. If winds are low, flying will be allowed. Pancake breakfast will be on site. Mr. Shorthose added JC Flying Service will have $25.00 airplane rides for individuals interested. Young Eagle Flight will be on Saturday, September 21st, 2013. b) FBO Report – JC Flying Service Mr. Shorthose reported nice summer and traffic counts shows. June 1st, 2013 a bit stressful with flood levels. Jc Flying Service applauds levee district and all workers who assisted, along with staff of City of Jefferson. c) Staff Liaison Report Columbia Regional Airport Britt reported not much discussion at CRA, traffic counts are down, and discussion on commercial air service. American Airlines have been successful thus far- ridership has been good. Britt added, this is good for our region. Their tower is open, at the last minute FAA blinked and funded 100%. Previous monthly minutes from CRA are attached to agenda for committee to review. Other discussion, movement of Advisory Committee meeting at airport, consideration to move downtown, but decided to move to baggage area on-site. Staff Report Lighting Project was previously discussed by Airport Manager, Craft. Airport Leases are in discussion. Airport Manager, Craft will manage airport leases. Goal is to standardize all leases in the future. Mr. Shorthose inquired about Construction Phase 1- Phase 2 – Phase 3 Project at airport (overlay, 927, 12/30, taxiway etc.) Shorthose expressed the concern with the closure of the intersection with airport traffic. Smith doesn’t have answers at this point, but will speak directly with Shorthose when information is available. 7. Old Business Mr. Rycyk asked Mr. Gentry and Mr. Naught to report on their new “Flying Club”. Gentry stated, consists of eight individuals at this time. Moving ahead, we were finalist of 120 applicants. The concept is to bring more individuals to aviation. In the near future, will be making decisions of fees etc. to club.
