HomeMy Public PortalAbout2009.011 (01-20-09)RESOLUTION No. 2009.011 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD AUTHORIZING THE RELEASE OF A REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS FOR PROCUREMENT OF ARMED AND UNARMED SECURITY GUARD SERVICES FOR THE CITY'S PARKS AND PUBLIC FACILITIES AND AMENDING THE TERM OF THE CURRENT AGREEMENT WITH CALIFORNIA PROTECTION SERVICES, INCORPORATED FOR THE PROVISION OF SECURITY GUARD SERVICES TO A MONTH-TO-MONTH AGREEMENT THROUGH MAY 31, 2009 FROM THE ORIGINAL DATE OF TERMINATION WHEREAS, the City of Lynwood and California Protective Services, Inc. first entered into an agreement to provide security services dated November 2, 2004; and WHEREAS, on December 19, 2006, having agreed upon subsequent amendments to the first agreement which set forth the terms and conditions for services to be provided for the city's parks and facilities, the City Council approved a two-year agreement with then California Security to provide current security services for City parks and facilities; and WHEREAS, the term of the current agreement was set for the two-year period specified from December 19, 2006 through December 31, 2008; and WHEREAS, said contract expired on December 31, 2008; and WHEREAS, the City of Lynwood desires to have qualified firms bid for the opportunity to provide security guard services for the City's parks and public facilities and to extend the current agreement on a month-to-month basis in order to continue services until a Request for Proposals process is completed; and ~'^ WHEREAS, the City of Lynwood purchasing guidelines require that a formal ~ Request For Proposals is issued for purchases in excess of $15,000. NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF LYNWOOD DOES HEREBY FIND, ORDER, AND RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. City staff is authorized to solicit bids for armed and unarmed security guard services from qualified firms through a Request for Proposals (RFP). Section 2. The current agreement with California Protection Services is extended on a month-to-month basis for the five-month period ending May 31, 2009. Section 3. All other provisions of the existing agreement remain in force. Section 4. This resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption.
