Job Title: Seasonal Worker Hours: Part time; up to 34 hours per week for 1 new hire or up to 17 hours per week each for 2 new hires; flexible between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday Pay Rate: $17.50/hour Number of Openings: 1 to 2 Position Summary: Performs a variety of skilled and semi-skilled tasks in the repair and maintenance of the City's facilities and infrastructure. Duties vary greatly from day-to-day and from season-to-season; performs related duties as assigned. Essential Functions: Under direction of the Public Works Operations Manager, m aintain and repair City facilities; perform custodial duties as needed. Paint/stain buildings, benches, picnic tables, and other park structures; clean and maintain park facilities, maintain, and repair playgrounds, and adhere to watering schedule. Assist with mowing, leaf removal, tree trimming, and brush removal, in-season. Maintain and make minor repairs to City streets and landscapes; remove trash from all City owned property and rights -of-way. Remove illegally dumped items within the City. Remove storm damage debris and trash from the right-of-way and parkway properties; remove, repair, and/or secure damaged equipment. Special projects and other duties as assigned. Requirements: Must be eighteen (18) years of age or older, able to lift at least 40 pounds, able to drive and operate light and heavy -duty equipment, hold a valid driver's license, and able to pass a background screening. Must be able to work outdoors in extreme weather conditions and adhere to all safety standards. Other: This position is not eligible for the Iowa Public Employees Retirement System (IPERS).
