Resolution Authorizing the Mayor to Sign an Agreement with
Western Illinois University for a Museum Studies Project
WHEREAS, the City of Riverdale, Iowa (hereinafter referred to as "City"), will celebrate the 75th anniversary
of the incorporation of the City in 2025; and,
WHEREAS, the City wishes to memorialize its 75th anniversary with a historical installation at City Hall that
features key moments in the City's history; and,
WHEREAS, a student from Western Illinois University's Museum Studies program is willing to undertake
the project for college credit; and,
WHEREAS, Anna Thomas, a Riverdale resident and upcoming Western Illinois University Museum Studies
graduate, has offered to assist/mentor the aforementioned student at no cost to the City; and,
WHEREAS, the Museum Studies program requires that the Master's level project encompass 200 hours of
work, and the City is willing to pay, and has budgeted for in fiscal year 2025, 200 hours of work at an hourly
rate of $15.00 per hour, for a total payroll expense of up to $3,000 for this project; and,
WHEREAS, the City has budgeted an additional $2,000 for materials for this project in fiscal year 2025;
and,
WHEREAS, the funding sources for this action are:
$3,000 #001-620-6010 Clerk's office, wages
$2,000 #001-650-6499 General government, other contractual services
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF RIVERDALE, IOWA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The Mayor is authorized to sign an agreement for a Museum Studies project with Western
Illinois University.
Section 2. The City Clerk/Treasurer is authorized to pay time and materials up to the limits indicated
in this Resolution.
