Drivers Cautioned About New Traffic Pattern on South King
Street, Beginning August 9, 2016
Traffic will be shifted onto the newly constructed lanes to accommodate the
next phase of the South King Street widening project.
Leesburg, VA (August 5, 2016) – On Tuesday, August 9, 2016, weather permitting, both
northbound and southbound traffic on South King Street between Greenway Drive and Masons
Lane on the south side of Leesburg will be shifted east onto newly constructed lanes. Travel
lanes will be separated by a double yellow line. The speed limit in this area is 35 miles per hour.
Drivers are advised to take extra care while traveling through the work zone. This change in
traffic pattern will be in place until further notice.
When the widening project is completed, South King Street will be a four-lane divided roadway
from the southern Town limits at Virt’s Corner to the Route 7/15 Bypass. Completion is
expected in Spring 2017.
