Special Meeting
Tuesday, April 14, 2015
The City Council of the City of Tiffin, Iowa met for a special meeting set for 5:00 p.m. on
Tuesday, April 14, 2015, for the purpose of interviewing and considering candidates for the City
Administrator/Clerk vacancy.
Call to Order, Roll Call Mayor Berner called the meeting to order at 5:15 p.m. Answering roll
call were Mayor Berner and Council members Bartels, Havens, Kahler, Ryan and Upton. Also
present were City Administrator/Clerk Tim Long and Administrator Search Consultant Patrick
Callahan, Callahan Municipal Consultants.
City Administrator Review Process Patrick Callahan reported that there were five candidates
for consideration by the City Council, reviewed the search process, and confirmed that the
Council members would be available for the candidates' day on May 1 and for the interviews on
Saturday May 2"d
Closed Session, Interview with Candidates. After confirming that there were no questions, Mayor
Berner called for a motion to adjourn into closed session at 5:27 p.m., under the authority of Iowa state
code 21.5(1), for evaluation of candidates for the position of City Administrator/Clerk for the
City of Tiffin.
Motion by Ryan, second by Havens to adjourn to closed session at 5:27 p.m., per section 21.5(1)
of the Code of Iowa, "To evaluate the professional competency of an individual whose
appointment, hiring, performance or discharge is being considered when necessary to prevent
needless and irreparable injury to that individuals reputation."
Roll Call Vote: Ayes- Bartels, Havens, Kahler, Ryan, Upton.
Nayes- none
Passed- None
Absent- None
Motion passed.
Return to Open Session. Motion by Ryan, second by Upton to return to Open Session at 8:49
p.m.
Roll Call Vote: Ayes- Bartels, Havens, Kahler, Ryan, Upton.
Nayes- none
Passed- None
Absent- None

Consultant's Report on the Next Step in the City Administrator/Clerk Search Process.
Motion by Ryan, second by Upton to set a special meeting of the City Council on Wednesday,
April 22, 2015 at 6:30 p.m. in lieu of the regular Council meeting work session.
Voice vote, all ayes, motion carried.
Adiournment.
Motion by Ryan, second by Upton to adjourn the meeting at 8:51 p.m.
Voice vote, all ayes. Motion carried.
