Resolution Approving the Purchase of a Public Works Vehicle
WHEREAS, the City identified a need for a replacement Public Works pickup truck via the Capital
Improvement Plan currently in effect, and the Public Works Operations Manager has received quotations
from two local fleet dealerships for a 2024 Ford F350 4x4 styleside pickup truck with a trailer brake
controller and side steps on each side; and,
WHEREAS, Sexton Ford has quoted the vehicle at $61,775, adjusted to a government rate of $54,920,
along with an additional estimated $12,000 to $15,000 trade-in allowance, for a total estimated price of
$39,920 to $42,920; and,
WHEREAS, Lindquist Ford has quoted the vehicle at $61,775, adjusted to a government rate of $55,216,
along with an additional estimated $10,000 to $12,000 trade-in allowance, for a total estimated price of
$43,216 to $45,216; and,
WHEREAS, both vendors anticipate a 4 to 5 month lead time on delivery of the new vehicle; and,
WHEREAS, the City has budgeted sufficient funds for this purchase across fiscal years 2024 and 2025,
and the funding may be split as a $30,000 payment to order the vehicle in FY24 and the balance payable
upon vehicle delivery in FY25; and,
WHEREAS, Council has discussed the proposed vehicle purchase and, after discussion, has deemed it
appropriate, necessary, convenient, and advisable to approve the purchase of a Public Works F350 pickup
truck.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF RIVERDALE, IOWA, AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1: That the following vehicle purchase is hereby approved

and the Public Works Operations Manager is authorized to initiate the purchase of the
above referenced vehicle in accordance with this Resolution.
SECTION 2. That the Public Works Operations Manager is authorized to trade in the current Public
Works Ford F250 vehicle toward the purchase of the new vehicle.

SECTION 3. That the City Clerk/Treasurer is authorized to make payment on the above referenced
vehicle in accordance with this Resolution.
