HomeMy Public PortalAboutTOL PR 2016-08-24 Fine Art Festival Town of Leesburg News Release For Immediate Release Media Contact: Betsy Arnett, Public Information Officer barnett@leesburgva.gov  703-771-2734 Fine Art Festival Returns to Downtown Leesburg on September 24 and 25, 2016 Leesburg, VA (August 24, 2016) – The Friends of Leesburg Public Arts are sponsoring the 5th annual Leesburg Fine Art Festival in downtown Leesburg, on Saturday and Sunday, September 24 and 25, 2016. A portion of the proceeds from the festival will support the Friends of Leesburg Public Arts. Coordinated by Paragon Art Events, the art festival will showcase nationally and internationally acclaimed arts from more than 20 states and overseas. Visitors will have the opportunity to meet and interact with the artists, learning how their specific artworks were created. The festival will feature painting, jewelry, sculpture, photography, woodworking, ceramics, glass, fiber art, mixed media and more. Each piece of art in the festival will be an original creation. During the festival, the Friends of Leesburg Public Arts will sponsor a hands-on kids crafting booth as well as a variety of musicians and other performers on Town Green. Admission to the Leesburg Fine Art Festival is free. Hours are 10am to 6pm on Saturday, September 24, and 11am to 5pm on Sunday, September 25. There will be street closures in downtown Leesburg for this event. King Street from Cornwall Street to Loudoun Street and Market Street from Church Street to Wirt Street will be closed, beginning at 5:30pm on Friday, September 23. Streets should reopen at approximately 9pm on Sunday, September 25. The Friend of Leesburg Public Arts’ mission is to provide funding and support for public art and arts-related programs within the Town of Leesburg. In addition to hosting the annual art festival, they are currently raising funds for a mural on the Loudoun Street side of the Town Hall Parking Garage, Sculpture Garden in Raflo Park, and other art projects in Leesburg.
