File Your Flight Plan for the Leesburg Airshow!
7th annual airshow will take to the skies over the Leesburg Executive Airport on
Saturday, September 24, 2016, from 11am to 4pm.
Leesburg, VA (August 31, 2016) – On
Saturday, September 24, 2016, the
Leesburg Executive Airport (1001 Sycolin
Road SE) will host the 7th annual Leesburg
Airshow from 11:00am to 4:00pm. There
is a requested donation of $3.00 per
person or $5.00 per family.
Primary parking locations for the airshow
are at Tuscarora High School (825 North
King Street) and Heritage High School (520
Evergreen Mill Road SE). Complimentary
shuttles will run continuously from
10:45am until 5:00pm. There will be no
general parking at the airport. Airport parking will be reserved for guests who require accessible
options. A DMV-issued permit must be displayed in order to park at the airport.
Gates for the airshow will open at 11:00am. The airshow’s static display area, located on the
airport’s parking ramp, always features a variety of experimental and antique aircraft. We are
excited to announce that a HondaJet very light business jet and a Vietnam-era Sikorsky CH-53
Sea Stallion helicopter will be joining this year’s static displays. The CH-53 Sea Stallion will be
open for public tours. Another highlight on the ground will be the classic car show, featuring
classic rides, custom hot rods, and the latest makes and models. Other tarmac attractions
include aviation-related displays, exhibits, and food vendors.
Prior to the main show, at 12:00pm, there will be a demonstration of radio-controlled aircraft.
Beginning at 1:00pm, the skies above Leesburg will come alive with daring aerobatic
performances. Featured performers include Andrew McKenna in his P-51 Mustang, Dan
Marcotte flying his Ultimate Biplane, and Scott Francis demonstrating thrilling aerobatics in his
MXS, along with performances by members of the Flying Circus, based in Bealeton, Virginia, and
the Commemorative Air Force’s National Capital Squadron. We are delighted that this year’s
airshow will once again be narrated by Hugh Oldham who has performed in and announced at
airshows for more than 30 years. For more details about the performers and the airshow
schedule, please visit www.leesburgairshow.com.
