AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF McCALL, A MUNICIPAL CORPORATION OF
THE STATE OF IDAHO, AMENDING THE INTERNATIONAL BUILDING CODE
REGARDING THE ROOF SNOW LOAD; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND
PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of McCall has adopted specific codes published by
the International Code Council, as prescribed by Idaho Code §39-4116; and
WHEREAS, the International Building Code establishes roof snow loads based on ground
snow loads, and allows reductions in the roof snow load based on site characteristics,
building design, and other considerations; and
WHEREAS, the standard roof snow load has been calculated to be 150 pounds/square foot,
at elevation 5,030';
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF McCALL, Valley County, Idaho, as follows:
Section 1.
Title 2, Chapter 1, Section 080 shall be amended to read as follows:
2-1-080: AMENDMENTS TO UNIFORM CODES:

In no case shall the design roof load or snow load, as determined by Sections 1607
and 1608 of the International Building Code, be less than 120 pounds per square
foot.
Section 2. Severability.
This ordinance is hereby declared to be severable. Should a court of competent jurisdiction
declare any portion of this ordinance invalid, the remaining provisions shall continue in full
force and effect and shall be read to carry out the purpose(s) of the ordinance before the
declaration of partial invalidity.
Section 3. Effective Date.
This ordinance, or a summary thereof, shall be published once in the official newspaper of
the City, and shall take effect upon its passage, approval, and publication.
