ON SEPTEMBER 19, 2007 IN THE CITY OF LYNWOOD COUNCIL CHAMBERS. COMMUNITY AFFAIRS COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES FOR JULY 18, 2007 OPENING CEREMONIES A. CALL TOORDER -The meeting was informal due to a lack of a quorum. B. PLEDGE OFALLEGIANCE -The Pledge of Allegiance was not recited. C. ROLL CALL Chairperson Gloria Garcia -Present Vice Chairperson D. Joyce Edner -Present Commissioner Margie Harper -Absent D. CERTIFICATION OF AGENDA POSTING -The agenda was duly posted for the July 18, 2007 meeting as prescribed by the Brown Act. E. APPROVAL OF PAST MINUTES -The June 2007 minutes were not approved due to a lack of a quorum. II. INFORMATION ITEMS A. City Council Items: Ms. Rozie Carrillo, Recreation Superintendent II announced that Mr. Roger Haley is our new City Manager. Mr. Haley is a former City of Lynwood employee that worked in the Redevelopment Department B. General City Program Report: The Quality of Life Department will host their annual National Night Out Program on 8/7/07 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. between Elm and Harris in Lynwood. C. Senior Citizens Program Report: None D. Library Report: The Lynwood Library Librarian, Ms. Glorietta Navo came by to announce an Origami Workshop for Teens to be held on 7/23 from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Lynwood Library. The first ten teens to register will receive a container to hold their craft project. She is also happy to announce that the Library offers free WiFi wireless Internet services for laptop computer users on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. E. Human Relations Mutual Assistance Consortium (H.R.M.A.C.) Report: None III. SCHEDULED MATTERS A. Angeles Fields -The Commissioners had a very brief discussion on the pros and cons of this proposed redevelopment. In talking to other residents they have found that most of the residents in favor of the project are not home-owners in the affected area. The residents in opposition of the redevelopment currently own homes in the area. There are many concerns over the increased traffic and parking congestion and subsequent pollution that this project will bring to the City of Lynwood. IV.
