Seats are limited, there please RSVP to Brenda Welcome at your earliest convenience to (213) 974-7624. a CITY OF LYNWOOD RECREATION 8~ COMMUNITY SERVICES DEPARTMENT COMMISSIONS 8~ BOARDS COMMUNITY AFFAIRS COMMISSION The City of Lynwood Community Affairs Commission is a group of five residents from throughout the City of Lynwood. The Commission's principal responsibility is to foster mutual respect and understanding among all racial, religious and ethnic groups within the Lynwood community. The Community Affairs Commission makes recommendations to the Lynwood City Council on plans, programs, events and activities which will provide opportunities for community involvement, increase community awareness and foster good will among all residents of the City of Lynwood. The Community Affairs Commission meets on the third Wednesday of each month at 5:00 p.m. in the Lynwood City Hall Council Chambers, 11301 Bullis Road, Lynwood, CA 90262. RECREATION & PARKS COMMISSION The City of Lynwood Recreation & Parks Commission is comprised of five Lynwood residents. The Recreation & Parks Commission is responsible for making recommendations to the Lynwood City Council for the proper conduct of public recreation within the City. The Recreation & Parks Commission is involved with the current and future planning, development and the general supervision of public recreation within the City; jointly with various other agencies that have entered into agreements with the City. The Recreation & Parks Commission meets on the fourth Tuesday of each month at 5:00 p.m. in the Lynwood City Hall Council Chambers, 11301 Bullis Road, Lynwood, CA 90262. YOUTH COMMISSION The City of Lynwood Youth Commission is a body of students that meet to discuss youth-related topics. Their main purpose is to provide input on relevant community issues and to promote youth participation in community events and activities. The Youth Commission is responsible for making recommendations to the Lynwood City Council on changes to procedures, policies and/or legislation that will affect and/or improve the quality of life for youth in the Lynwood community. The Youth Commission meets on the third Wednesday of each month at 5:00 p.m. at the Lynwood Youth Center, 11409 Birch Street, Lynwood, CA 90262. + b VETERANS AFFAIRS COUNCIL The Veterans Affairs Council is a volunteer group for retired or active military personnel. Board Members meet to discuss various issues related to military life such as military benefits and health care issues, and to share information that impacts veterans and their families. Annually on Veterans Day, the Veterans Affairs Council commemorates all war veterans and active military personnel with a wreath ceremony held on the front lawn of Lynwood City Hall. Currently the Veterans Affairs Council is working to have a new Veterans Memorial Monument erected in Lynwood City Park. They welcome new members to come and join their group. The Veterans Affairs Council meets on the 4th Monday of each month at 5:00 p.m. in the Lynwood City Hall Council Chambers, 11301 Bullis Road, Lynwood, CA 90262. The Community Affairs Commission, Recreation 8. Parks Commission, Youth Commission and the Veterans Affairs Council do not meet during the month of December.
