Community Shows Support for Leesburg Police
Second annual Leesburg Police Appreciation Day, sponsored by John Marshall
Bank, was a huge success.
Leesburg, VA – Thursday, October 20, 2016, was Leesburg Police Appreciation Day. Throughout
the day, community members delivered cards, banners, treats and other tokens of appreciation
to the Police Department offices. The officers and their families were treated to breakfast,
lunch and dinner at the department, courtesy of John Marshall Bank.
One of the most
extravagant gifts was a
handmade quilt,
presented to Chief
Gregory Brown by Mickey
Holman and Carolyn
Hartley of the Waterford
Quilters Guild (pictured at
right). This beautiful quilt
will be displayed at the
Leesburg Police
Department on Plaza
Street.
A slideshow with a
sample of the many ways
that the Leesburg community expressed its appreciation for the hard work and dedication of
the Town’s police officers is on the Town website at
www.leesburgva.gov/policeappreciationday.
The Leesburg Police Department posted the following on its Facebook page on Friday, October
21, 2016:
“We are extremely humbled and honored by the outpouring of public support th at we received
yesterday on "Police Appreciation Day." The blue ribbons, banners, and balloons throughout
the Town, along with the cards, letters, and social media posts served as motivation to all of us
that we make a difference.”
