Leesburg Parks & Recreation Department Garners Two
Virginia Recreation & Park Society Awards
Leesburg, VA (November 17, 2016) – At the 62nd Annual
Conference of the Virginia Recreation and Park Society
(VRPS) earlier this month, the Town of Leesburg’s Parks &
Recreation Department received two awards:
Best New Environmental Sustainability Award for
the Native Tree Walk at Ida Lee Park
Best Promotional Effort – Specialty Awards for the
25th Annual Flower and Garden Festival Wineglass
The VRPS’ state-wide awards program honors individuals,
departments and organizations throughout Virginia who
have demonstrated excellence in any of several areas
during the previous year. This year, 101 applications were
received vying for awards in 14 different categories. The
Town of Leesburg’s award nominations were judged by a jury of its peers in the 25,001-50,000
population category.
The mission of the Virginia Recreation and Park Society is to unite all professionals, students,
and interested lay persons engaged in the field of recreation, parks, and other leisure services
