Dear Mr. Kohnen:
This will confirm the comments made today by Mr. M. C.
Peterson of this Department during investigation of the
site for the proposed sanitary landfill which will be
located on your property. The site appeared to be satis-
factory for the development of a sanitary landfill provid-
ing the following recommendations are carried out:
1. An entrance gate should be provided and it should be
locked when the grounds are unattended.
2. An access road should be constructed from the highway
to the site.
3. Snow fence or other closely woven fence should be pro-
vided around the landfill area as a barrier for blowing
paper.
4. Mechanical equipment should be provided which may be
used for both compacting the refuse and in handling the
earth cover.
We are enclosing a copy of a guide which should be followed
in the development and operation of the sanitary landfill.
If you have additional questions, do not hesitate to call or
write us.
Yours very truly,
nay-'
