15th Annual Get Smart! 5K Stampede to Take Place on Sunday,
May 1
Temporary road closures will occur for runners’ safety.
Leesburg, VA (April 18, 2022) – The 15th annual Get Smart! 5K Run will be held at Smarts Mill
Middle School (850 King Street) on Sunday, May 1 beginning at 8:30 a.m. The race, which is the
longest running event hosted by the PTA, will feature a new flat course this year.
Beginning at 8:15 a.m., Dry Hollow Road and Battlefield Parkway, from King Street to Catoctin
Circle, will be closed. The roadway into the school will be closed for a short period beginning at
8:25 a.m. until all runners make the transition to Dry Hollow Road. The road will reopen as soon
as all runners have cleared the roadway, at approximately 10 a.m. Drivers should expect minor
delays and detours.
Following the race, the top three overall male and female runners will receive awards in
addition to the top male and female finishers in specific age groups.
Registration is $25 for youth and $35 for adults and can be done online through PR Races.
Registration will close on Thursday, April 28 at 8 p.m. Walkers are welcome and this is a stroller-
friendly course. Dogs are not allowed.
All proceeds from the Get Smart! 5K Stampede will benefit the Smart’s Mill Middle School PTA
funding for educational programs, after school clubs, and community outreach programs.
