Public Encouraged to Provide Input on Battlefield Parkway
and Route 15 Bypass Interchange Study
An online survey will be available through May 16.
Leesburg, VA (April 29, 2022) – On Thursday, the Town of
Leesburg held a virtual neighborhood meeting to present grade
separated interchange (overpass) alternatives, which are
currently under consideration, for the Battlefield Parkway and
Route 15 Bypass intersection. A recording of the presentation is
available on the project’s webpage.
The public is encouraged to provide feedback by participating in
an online survey, which will be open until May 16. Survey results
will be presented to the Leesburg Town Council this summer
when they review the project. The survey link and additional
details can also be found on the project webpage.
This intersection is one of the most congested in the Town of Leesburg. The project would help
reduce congestion and vehicle delays in addition to providing safer pedestrian and bicycle
access across the Route 15 Bypass.
Anyone with questions is asked to contact Project Manager Karin Franklin at 703-771-6674 or
kfranklin@leesburgva.gov.
The Northern Virginia Transportation Authority has provided $2M in regional funding to
complete the initial study developing the Interchange Access Report (IAR). The IAR will evaluate
the need for the interchange, analyze environmental impacts, develop and compare alternative
interchange designs, recommend an alternative, and establish a project budget. The IAR is
expected to be completed late in 2023. A second neighborhood meeting is planned during the
first half of 2023 to provide more project details on the recommended alternative.
