Leesburg to Host Traveling Art Museum at Virginia Village
Free tours will take place Saturday, July 4 and Sunday, July 5.
Leesburg, VA (May 27, 2022) – The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts’ (VMFA) state-of-the-art
traveling museum and art studio will visit the Town of
Leesburg on Saturday, June 4 and Sunday, June 5.
The 53-foot, climate-controlled Volvo trailer will
feature the exhibition, Revealing and Obscuring
Identity: Portraits from the Permanent Collection. The
exhibition of paintings, photographs, and prints, by
more than 10 artists, explore portraiture through a
variety of periods, cultures, and styles. Themes
include nature of art, the perception of beauty, and
the cultural influences on identity.
The exhibit will be open to the public, at Virginia Village (1 Fairfax Street, SE), on Saturday, June
4 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Sunday, June 5 from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission is free.
Members of the Commission on Public Arts (COPA) and Friends of Leesburg Public Art (FOLPA)
will also be in attendance to educate the public on the Arts & Cultural District as well as
upcoming events.
This event coincides with the 15th Annual Western Loudoun Art & Studio Tour, which offers a
weekend of art, shopping, and relaxation in western Loudoun County.
VMFA on the Road is traveling to remote corners of Virginia by way of the museum’s Statewide
Partners program, which includes 1,000 locations from community centers and small museums
