NVTA Awards $20 Million in Funding for Route 7/Battlefield
Parkway Interchange in Leesburg
New interchange is expected to be completed in Spring 2022.
Leesburg, VA (December 9, 2016) – Last night, the Northern Virginia Transportation Authority
(NVTA) approved $20 million in funding for a new interchange at Route 7 and Battlefield
Parkway in the Town of Leesburg. The interchange will replace an existing traffic signal.
Under the approved funding agreement, the interchange will be designed and constructed by
the Virginia Department of Transportation, with an estimated completed date of April 2022.
“The Town fought hard for this funding,” noted Leesburg Mayor David Butler. “We are grateful
for the full support and assistance of the Loudoun County Boad of Supervisors and the Virginia
Department of Transportation in advancing this project in the funding schedule. As Route 7 is a
major commuter route, the interchange will benefit the whole region, not just the Town of
Leesburg.”
For more information about the funding, visit the NVTA website at www.thenovaauthority.org.
