RESOLUTION NO. 90 -3005
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF TEMPLE CITY SUPPORTING THE SOUTHERN CALI-
FORNIA RAPID TRANSIT DISTRICT IN ITS EFFORTS
TO REDUCE CURRENT TRAFFIC CONGESTION AND ITS
INHERENT PROBLEMS
WHEREAS, the City of Temple City recognizes the domestic
problems associated with dependency on foreign oil; and
WHEREAS, the crisis in the Mideast has again focused our
attention on this dependency; and
WHEREAS, the Southern California Rapid Transit District
proposes a very viable and reasonable solution to decrease traf-
fic congestion and pollution through the use of carpools,
vanpools, train, bus, work at home, or flexible work hours one
day a week and thereby increasing the number of commuters per
vehicle to one and one - quarter riders per car effectively reduc-
ing the number of cars on the freeway by as much as 20 percent:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of
Temple City, California, as follows:
SECTION 1. That the City Council does hereby urge citizens
to ride the bus, train, use carpools, vanpools, establish work at
home program, create flexible work schedules in a concerted
effort to reduce traffic congestion and pollution and curb our
dependency on foreign oil.
SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage and
adoption of this resolution, and it shall thereupon be in full
force and effect.

I, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution, Resolution
No. 90 -3005 was duly adopted by the City Council of the City of
Temple City at a regular meeting held on the 6th day of November,
1990 by the following vote:
