HomeMy Public PortalAboutCanyon Springs DEIR Public Comment #45 (Adams) March 4, 2013 Attention: Denyelle Nishimori, Senior Planner 10183 Truckee Airport Rd. Truckee, CA 96161 dnishimori@townoftruckee.com To Whom It May Concern, We have lived in Glenshire since 1999 and are proud to call it our home. This letter is to share our comments and concerns regarding the adequacy of the DEIR for the proposed Canyon Springs housing development. We have a young child and one of us works at various schools in Truckee, thus commuting on Glenshire Drive is frequent. The traffic that already exists can be overwhelming and in winter conditions Glenshire Dr. can be ominous at best. The current DEIR did not take into consideration the cumulative impacts on Glenshire Dr. and the DPR from Olympic Heights and the downtown core. The traffic studies need to examine the collective impact for the entire region. In addition, like most that live in Truckee, we spend most of our free time in the outdoors. We enjoy the hiking trails in Glenshire as they are beautiful, easy to access, and the home of native wildlife. We are often in awe of the wildlife that we encounter. We believe that we do not have sufficient evidence that the areas adjacent to the development sites as well as the proposed development itself would not cause destruction and intrusion to the sensitive wildlife that currently reside in this area. As it is known, this project blocks a known deer migration corridor. The deer study data needs to be incorporated into DEIR, as current analysis is not sufficient and updated. Thank you for allowing me to address my concerns regarding the DEIR for Canyon Springs. Please feel free to contact us with questions regarding our comments and concerns addressing the adequacy of the DEIR.
