Dear Jenna Endres,
My name is Thomas Stokes. I have lived in Truckee since 1974. I currently live in Tahoe Donner and have
done so since 1998. I am somewhat familiar with the proposed improvements to the Tahoe Donner Marina
facility. In general I think they have come up with some good ideas on how to improve the facility and make it
function for a broader spectrum of the Tahoe Donner Home Owners Association population. There are many
people, myself included, who like to go to the Marina with friends for an evening meal in the summer
time. Currently, there are only picnic tables on the beach itself and with large families utilizing these spaces
there really isn’t another option for people like myself to enjoy the beach without being right in the middle of
the action. I would like to be able to go to the marina, be on Donner Lake, enjoy the beauty of summertime
on the lake, and be once removed from the center of beach activities. I think the improvements in front of the
food services building and to the west above the beach itself would provide much needed options not
currently available at the Marina. I believe those improvements can be realized with a minimal of
environmental degradation through the smart use of porous hardscape and intelligent landscaping. I hope the
Town of Truckee will facilitate the homeowners association in implementing these improvements in a
thoughtful and environmentally conscious manner.
