HomeMy Public PortalAboutPublic Comment #11 (Dowdy)1 Laura Dabe Subject:Tahoe Donner Marina Expansion Plan   From: judy dowdy [mailto:enhance1953@yahoo.com] Sent: Saturday, April 06, 2013 6:50 PM To: Jenna Endres Subject: Tahoe Donner Marina Expansion Plan I would like you to consider denying this new proposal. It is not needed, it does not follow members desires for more open space and it will not increase the pleasure of boaters and beach- goers by building more deck and patio space. The purpose of the marina amenity is for day use of the lake. Not for night use. Attempting to open up a deck and patio area for the public to hold weddings does not fit the purpose of this amenity. While not stated, it is obvious that other uses are being considered. Why lights at night? We are a homeowner association. We pay for our amenities. We do NOT want a commercial project inviting the public at large. We enjoy the full- moon quiet kayak events. Money has been spent at the Lodge at the golf course for a wedding area. That is enough. The membership does NOT want management to spend more of our money on projects that are NOT needed. We want our current amenities maintained. We want our open space. That is what surveys have indicated. That is what we have said at meetings. The current parking lot will NOT suffice for a commercial marina. This plan is a detour from our desired amenity purposes and usage which is for OUR use, not the public at large, never mind excavating in a sensitive area. We are supposed to be non-profit. We do NOT need to increase commercial usage. It seems inappropriate to cut down trees in order to plant new trees. Tahoe Donner just published an article stating that they are proud to be a steward of our habitat. This plan is a contradiction. All of this just to make the Marina ADA compatible? I think not. Why the rush when the general plan states to look at improvements a few years from now? This plan needs to be denied. It will change the natural environment, increase road congestion, destroy mature trees and not improve the purposes of the Marina, which is a boating/swimming facility.
