Subject: Public comment on proposed Tahoe Donner Marina
I am writing today to urge you to not approve the proposed expansion at the Tahoe Donner Marina. Here is why I don’t
like it:
‐It is too big for the space
‐It will obstruct the view to the Lake for those that live in the area, bike and run by the marina ‐State Parks owns the
property and Tahoe Donner leases for a minimal fee. I know this meeting is not about this topic but it needs to be
factored in. State Parks is about public access. Tahoe Donner is for card members only. We have to deal with this already
established relationship but let’s not exacerbate the issue by further developing the site ‐Traffic and parking: this is
already an huge issue in the summer. More development means more people which means more traffic and parking
issues (especially in our beloved bike lanes) which impacts all of us in a negative way ‐Water quality: more people at this
site impacts the Lake ‐I think the report that staff has put out underestimates the impacts this project will have. This
space simple can not handle anymore.
If Tahoe Donner wants to do events and wedding, I suggest they pick a different location than Donner Lake which we see
as an asset that belongs to all of us. Please don’t wreck our beloved Donner Lake by allowing a private club to expand.
In short, I urge you to be brave and say no to this plan. Thank you for hearing my comments and strongly considering
them.
