We are sending this email to express our concerns about the proposed Tahoe Donner Marina Project. We
have been homeowners in Tahoe Donner since 1989 and full time since 1993, and have made use of the
marina with our three sons by swimming, kayaking and weekly barbecues with friends every summer.
We were at the TD Board Meeting when this proposal was first brought forth. At that time, a wedding
pavilion, to be located on the west end of the upper level, and a bar on the beach were part of the plan. The
Tahoe Donner Board of Directors removed the wedding pavilion and the bar from the plan. Our main concern
is that the existing plan will still be used for “special” events. As proposed, the expansion of the deck/patio
with fire pits and the wind screen lends itself to extending the usage hours into the evening. In the past
month, we’ve seen a lot of usage of the grassy area by families sitting on blankets and children playing due to
the many owners and guests on the sandy beach. The patio extension will remove this option for families.
This private amenity is one of the most used and profitable during the summer months for Tahoe Donner. We
think that this project will be used to increase “special” events and profitability at an already heavily used
amenity.
We urge you to deny the patio extension and enforce the rule that “no special events” (weddings with shuttle
buses, etc) shall be held at the Tahoe Donner Marina.
