To Jenna
I want to add my name to the list of people who are against this project almost in it's entirety. We are hostages of our
Board, which seems to have it's own agenda and doesn't listen to the members. This is why I have to write to you.
The purpose of enlarging the upper area seems to be to hold large events. The number of trees which will be cut is
unnecessary unless there are plans for such events. Right now, that area isn't used much by the members, so it doesn't
need to be enlarged for the present usage. Keep in mind that our forester, while being a capable person, is being paid by
the Board, so his opinions for the cutting of trees should be seen in that light.
These large events will further impact the parking on Donner Pass Road, which as you know, on any given summer day,
weekend or not, is difficult. Then there are the lights! I can't even imagine why they are necessary. They will be eyesores
as well as annoyances to the neighbors. I would think the people camping in the Memorial Park will have their
experience affected by these lights. Given the recent activity on the Fourth of July, it would seem that having people
drinking on the beach later at night would not be a good thing. Now when darkness comes, people go home and policing
the area is not necessary.
As an aside, this has always been a family‐friendly amenity. They are now serving chair‐side alcohol, which is distressing
to me. Do they have a license for that? (Most of the workers are teenagers, who would not be able to serve alcohol; that
should be investigated.)
Thank you to the Town of Truckee for opening this discussion, and to you for passing on our concerns.
Sincerely
Arlene Edminster
