SUMMARY
STATEMENT:
The City currently pays interest on deposits made for water and sewer. The administration is very cumbersome. It includes keeping track of who has a deposit, how long he/she
has had the deposit, and if he/she has paid timely for 12 months.
The software company, Caselle, has stated that the City of McCall is one of their only customers paying interest
on deposits. We have contacted a couple of cities, including Boise, and determined that they do not pay interest on deposits.
The auditors have recommended changing the ordinance to
collect deposits without payment of interest.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Suspend the rules, read by title only, one time only Ordinance No. 748.
Adopt Ordinance No. 748 and authorize the
Mayor to sign.
