SUMMARY STATEMENT:
City staff is working
with M Resorts to develop a plan for modifications to the bike path in front of the Shore Lodge. A conceptual plan (see attached) has been developed. The bike path on the north side
of SH55 will be relocated behind new raised planters. Additional drainage improvements, decorative lighting, landscaping and underground utilities are included in the project. Similar
improvements are proposed for the south side of the highway. A full-size color plan is available in City Hall. M Resorts has agreed to pay construction costs, for either all construction
or to meet match requirements for grant funding.
The Planning & Zoning Commission, Transportation Advisory Committee and West Corridor Task Force have all reviewed and approved the
concept. Because all of the work is proposed within the State right-of-way, a permit from ITD is required. Details regarding utility location, sight distances and stormwater design are
currently being finalized. Initial discussions have begun with ITD representatives.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Approve the concept plan, authorize staff to finalize details and apply for
a permit from ITD.
