SUMMARY STATEMENT:
Roxanne Peterschmidt
has approached the McCall Improvement Committee regarding the donation of a large bronze sculpture, called The Bearing Wall, for Art Roberts Park. Attached are copies of photographs
and a description of the sculpture.
The McCall Improvement Committee reviewed the proposal and possible locations for the sculpture. The Improvement Committee recommends that the
Council accept the donation for Art Roberts Park. The McCall Improvement Committee will be developing draft standards for future review of public art for the Council’s consideration.
The Parks & Recreation Committee reviewed the proposal at their November 6 meeting. The Parks & Recreation Committee recommends that the Council accept the donation for Art Roberts
Park.
The Improvement Committee has arranged for Network Architects to donate design services to incorporate the sculpture in Art Roberts Park. The Committee will be working with
the Parks Department to develop an attractive and affordable design that will complement and enhance the sculpture. The Committee is pursuing additional donations or grants to cover
the cost of the park improvements.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Accept the donation of The Bearing Wall for installation in Art Roberts Park, authorize the McCall Improvement Committee and
the Parks Department to pursue redesign and funding for the park.
