By way of background, my organization is building a bike trail from Lake Tahoe to Pyramid Lake, including connecting Truckee's Legacy Trail to a future trail along the Truckee River east of Glenshire. We hope to keep connectivity for non-motorized travelers in mind during decisions by all entities in two states, five counties and four cities along the Truckee River. My comments are: 1. At page 4.14-20, the statement about Hirschdale Bridges should be updated to reflect Nevada County's recent decision NOT to remove the bridges. 2. The project proposes no bike lanes, but a substantial safety enhancement for both new residents of the project and the public could be achieved by implementing bike lanes on Glenshire Drive from the terminus of the new Legacy Trail to Hirschdale Drive. 3. Traffic volume at school start and end times is cited as a concern in the traffic study, which could be reduced by implementing the trail plan for Glenshire. Thank you for the opportunity to comment.
