As you might infer I live in Glenshire and have so for 14 years. I have lived in the Tahoe Truckee area for 30 years. I have watched bad projects come and go. I have watched both good building happen and bad building happen. Bad building has been happening in the Truckee area for many years now. Not all of it is bad but much of it is. I continue to see building for the sake of keeping people employed, which is good, but not for anything else but line the pockets of the town. The town has way too many vacant lots and scantly developed subdivisions now. Allowing developers to tear up the open space in our town simply because you are afraid of saying no is getting old. We do not need another subdivision. We have plenty of vacant ones now. The open space we have is rapidly disappearing in the name of developement. Canyon Springs is a bad idea for this town. It is 8 miles from town and not going to do anything for the people that are looking for affordable housing, such as it is. The type of people that need that housing need to be closer to town with access that is not on a 9% grade. So where does that leave us. With 185 lots that were developed and another bankrupt developer. I think most of the local residents are getting very tired of this. That particular piece of land should not be developed as a subdivision. Did anyone remind the town that it is a deer migration corridor? As if we don't have enough dead deer on Glenshire drive now. A skateboard park would make more sense.
