HomeMy Public PortalAboutPublic Comment #064 (Truckee Trails Foundation)1 Laura Dabe From:Denyelle Nishimori Sent:Friday, November 21, 2014 8:39 AM To:Terri McCracken (tmccracken@placeworks.com) Cc:Laura Dabe Subject:Canyon Springs RDEIR Public Comment #64   From: Allison Pedley [mailto:truckeetrailsfoundation@gmail.com] Sent: Thursday, November 20, 2014 6:01 PM To: Denyelle Nishimori Subject: Canyon Springs RDEIR/Trails Comment     Danielle,     The Truckee Trails Foundation has a concern regarding the trails planned for the Canyon Springs RDEIR.      The DEIR and RDEIR states that 2‐foot‐wide soft surface trails will be located primarily on existing trails.  This includes a  number of very badly eroding trails, some on very steep slopes with up to 15% grades according a LiDAR‐based surface,  making them especially prone to erosion.  We are very concerned that these trails will continue to erode and deliver  sediment to receiving waters, significantly impacting biological resources and water quality.  The trails will also continue  to be largely inaccessible to many users due to their steep grade and erosive qualities.   It is our opinion that these  concerns warrant additional study.    Sincerely,  Allison Pedley      Allison Pedley Truckee Trails Foundation http://www.truckeetrails.org
