SUMMARY STATEMENT:
The City has received a request
to purchase the site of the old water tower, at 508 E. Lenora St. (Block 13, Lots 5 & 6, McCall’s First Addition). A neighboring property owner is interested in acquiring the lots. Each
lot is approximately 30'x90' and has a filtered lake view. They are zoned B Residential.
Idaho Code gives the Council discretion to sell or exchange “…any real property owned by the
City not used for public purposes, or which has ceased to be used for such purposes.” IC 50-1401
Each department head reviewed the property and uses for it. Several suggestions were
made, including creating a small neighborhood park and holding onto the lots to trade for other property.
After careful review, staff recommends that the lots not be sold at this time.
They currently provide informal, undeveloped open space in the neighborhood and are a valuable asset for the City.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Find that the lots are necessary for public
purposes and should not be sold.
