SUMMARY STATEMENT:
Idaho Fish and Game has grant funds available to increase the public’s enjoyment, appreciation, and understanding of wildlife.
The local net pens provide an opportunity for residents and visitors to view native fish. The grant funds, if awarded, would be used to install interpretive signs near the net pens,
which would provide information about species, life cycle, and other relevant information, thereby enhancing the visitors’ experience. The grant requires a 50-50 match, and the match
can be cash, materials, or labor. The total sign project is estimated by Rocky Mountain Signs to be approximately $1350. The Recreation Department has designated $250 toward the project,
and will contribute labor. The local chapter of Trout Unlimited will be approached on 10/25/01 for a donation of $450 for the project. If funds are not received from TU, the project
can proceed, but will be reduced in scale. The cost to the City will not change.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Approve the grant application and authorize the Mayor to sign all relevant application
and award documents.
