Hi, my name is and I'm calling on behalf of TNR, a public opinion research firm. We're conducting a survey about issues in Truckee and I'd like to get your opinions. If needed:This is a survey about important issues in Truckee - I'm NOT trying to sell anything. If needed:The survey should take no more than 10 minutes to complete. If needed: If now is not a convenient time, can you let me know a better time so I can call back? If the person asks why you need to speak to the listed person or if they ask to participate instead, explain: For statistical purposes, this survey must only be completed by this particular individual. If the person says they are an elected official or is somehow associated with the survey, politely explain that this survey is designed to the measure the opinions of those not closely associated with the study, thank them for their time, and terminate the interview. This measure is a smart way to limit growth B and development. It provides the resources 1 2 3 4 98 99 needed to purchase and save open space areas that may be threatened by development. C All land purchases will involve fair 1 2 3 4 98 99 compensation to willing sellers. If the measure passes, the Town will be eligible for millions of dollars in State and Federal D 1 2 3 4 98 99 matching money that otherwise will go to another area. A sales tax will make sure that tourists and E visitors to Truckee pay their fare share for the 1 2 3 4 98 99 facilities and services they use while here. Independent audits and a Citizen's Oversight F Committee will make sure the money is spent 1 2 3 4 98 99 wisely and efficiently. This 1 2 3 4 98 99 measure will add another 20 year tax on top of this debt. This tax is not needed. We already have a lot of 8 open space that is permanently protected. 1 2 3 4 98 99 If it wants to, the Town can protect open space C through zoning laws rather than through 1 2 3 4 98 99 raising taxes. Local government can't be trusted with this tax. D They will mismanage the money or spend it on 1 2 3 4 98 99 their own pet projects. E This sales tax will be unfair to the poor and 1 2 3 4 98 99 older people on fixed incomes.
