1. CALL TO ORDER- Mayor Goodwin called the meeting to order at 2:35 p.m.
2. ROLL CALL: Council Members; Flora, Tirman, Abrams, Vice Mayor Wallace Dee, and
Mayor Goodwin.
Staff Present: Erica Mertens, Administrative Analyst II; Johnny Goetz, Chief Building
Official; Kim Szczurek, Administrative Services Director; Andy Morris, Town Attorney;
Tony Lashbrook, Town Manager; and Judy Price, Town Clerk.
3. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE-deferred.
4. PUBLIC COMMENT- none.
5. WORKSHOP ITEM
5.1 Contract Negotiations for Solid Waste Services.
Council Discussion:
• Challenges with carts for recycling and green wastes in Tahoe Donner.
• Potential for picking up green waste carts from residents at the end of summer
for TTSD to store until spring.
• Council would like additional information on the effect of the program on rates.
• Potential of adding drop off locations for recyclables in the summer to
accommodate our Tahoe Donner part-time residents.
• The results from the community survey and Council direction at the beginning of
the process.
o Reduce blue and green bags (single use bags).
o Eliminate the walls of green bags.
o Address new state requirements.
• Concerns with the "opt out blue bag" option being a higher cost to users.
• There will be significant outreach to commercial accounts. Currently, most
commercial accounts do not actively recycle.
