SUMMARY STATEMENT:
The McCall Library Director and staff have identified the need for an automated cataloging and check out
system. The benefits of the automated system are: 1) reduction in staff time currently spent on maintaining the card catalog system; 2) reduction of time spent on routine clerical tasks;
3) an increase in staff time for direct patron contact; 4) increase access to library’s holdings to patrons; and 5) provide compliance with the privacy provisions of the Public Records
Act by protecting the privacy of patrons.
The cost is estimated to be $12055, which includes in-kind labor and materials, and funds already budgeted for these technological improvements
in FY02. The grant request is for $5000, which would be used for the purchase of an automation server, circulation workstation, bar code reader and surge protection.
Recommended
Action: Approve submission of grant to the King Foundation and authorize the Mayor to sign.
