SUMMARY STATEMENT:
Tree City USA is a community improvement project sponsored by the National Arbor Day Foundation. McCall has
met the four requirements for Tree City eligibility: 1) established a Tree Committee; 2) passed a Tree Ordinance; 3) has an annual budget (cash and in-kind) for community forestry expenditures
of at least $2 per capita; and 4) proclaimed and observed Arbor Day.
Earning the recognition of Tree City USA will allow the City of McCall to join the 43 other communities in Idaho
which currently have that status. Along with this designation, the City of McCall will receive entrance signs, a flag and a plaque. This designation also makes McCall more competitive
when applying for certain tree grants through the Idaho Department of Lands.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Approve the application for Tree City USA status, and authorize the Mayor to
sign.
