SUMMARY STATEMENT:
The
former Jordon Motel site, also known as the ‘Zatica property,’ is a high priority site for additional public parking in the downtown area. The property was appraised several months ago
at $5.00 per square foot. The portion of the property available is 0.79 acres, or 34,760 square feet. The site will accommodate up to 105 parking spaces (maximum density, with no landscaping)
and will provide snow storage area in the winter.
The attached Purchase and Sale Agreement is an offer from the City to purchase the property for the appraised value: $173,800. Terms
of the sale are: $25,000 down (including $1,000 earnest money to accompany the offer), Zatica to carry the note at 8% interest for 104 months (monthly payments of $2,000 for about 8½
years), and Zatica to provide a record of survey for the property.
The FY02 budget includes $35,000 for downtown parking. Susan Buxton is reviewing the Purchase and Sale Agreement.
RECOMMENDED
ACTION:
Direct staff to present the purchase offer, authorize the Mayor to sign all necessary documents to complete the sale.
